Some obsidian from Jeb. It's going on a hunting arrow. Perfect weight

That point looks deadly, nice work. Check your state laws about having barbs on hunting heads. The obsidian point has what would be considered barbs and not legal everywhere. I also grind my grizzly points a little forward on the back edge to allow it to be pulled out. Those square shoulders will make it really difficult to pull out. Look at the old Bear broadheads and see home the back is angled forward some. A bad hit may cause a deer to carry that broadhead for years.

Very nice point BJ.  You are really making some nice stuff. Hope that point serves you well when put to the test.

Thanks NC I will take the barbs off for hunting, I just like the looks better for posting before I halvted it to a shaft. That should be perfect weight then.
Thanks Kyle, I might set my buddy up with this one. I think he has a pretty good chance of putting it to good use.

Good looking  point.

The point is OK to use in Michigan BJ.  By the time you get it hafted and wrapped there won't be much left of the base showing.  I don't think Michigan has the anti barb rule anyway.

Thanks Selfbow appreciate that
Thanks Jeb, I'm sure your right about the base nearly disappearing after halvted to a shaft. I'm pretty sure we do have a no barb rule in Michigan. I think the point may or may not be considered barbed depending on the person inspecting it. I can easily remove the "barbs" most of the time I accidentally do it.lol

Thanks GlisGlis, I'm probably going to be a barb remover on occasions for a long time, but I have been doing a little better notching lately.

Nice point, I have found out from shooting my points that anything over 1" wide you don't get the penetration you would from steel..3/4"-1" is about the best..length doesn't make much difference but I wouldn't make them much more than 2' long just for breakage factor..

Thanks Rob, I sure hope so. I'd love for my buddy to get one. He has some pretty good hunting grounds and I think he understands how to hunt with this equipment pretty good. Of course that doesn't guarantee anything.
Blitzkrieg721 I agree completely. I normally don't make mine quite this long. That's why I held it up to my grizzly single bevel for a comparison. I think it's ok but I normally make them a little shorter. Michigan has to be at least 7/8" wide and like you said, I also don't like any over 1".
