I'm planning a ELB build using laminated wood and am seeking some opinions about the best wood to use.  Now I know there will be many different opinions on this subject but pls go ahead and pass on what you think.  I am leaning toward using IPE as the belly wood but just cant decide what to back it with. How does white oak sound? Thanks ahead for your input.

White oak might be good for a backing. Hickory would be my choice. Ipe is a good belly wood as is osage.

Clear high elevation yew lams with a hard maple backing.

I made a couple of laminated tri-lam elb's. Used ipe or massuranduba on the belly. I have mostly used bamboo as a backing but have succesfully used hickory and ash on the back as well. If you want to make a tri-lam there are a lot of choices for the core lam. I have used maple, ash, oak, padauk, purpleheart and hazel succesfully
