Looking for a Primitive archery mentor
« on: June 27, 2017, 06:17:20 am »
As a traditional bow hunter for so many years now, I have always had an interest in making my own equipment. I'm looking for someone around the Wisconsin area that wouldn't mind giving me a hand with questions, and perhaps making a bow. I would be forever in debt. You can contact me via email
rkfrassetto@hotmail.com, or shoot me a pm.
Thank you

Wisconsin is a little big, could you narrow it down some?  I am in East central WI, Sheboygan area (that's Sheboygan with an "S" for all you Michiganders).

Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

I'm a lossy speller, all I can guarantee is I'd spell it wrong.

If you are serious for help, lots of people here will bend over backwards.

It looks like you've asked the same thing before, back in '11 and '14.

I know life gets in the way some times.

Just ask, and we'll help any way we can.

Kyle

No, Pearldrums.  CHEboygan would be pronounced like CHIcago, like CHeese (something Wisconsinites know everything about).

I am also from Wisconsin and I'd be willing to help if I can. I don't have as much experience as some others in this community but I've made a few bows and I have a lot of materials. I can help you build a simple selfbow, a bamboo-backed bow, a sinewed backed bow, or a 100 lb Yew ELB if you want, as I said I have a lot of materials. I am not too far from ksnow, I also live in the Sheboygan area. He and I know don't know each other personally, I only recently learned that he didn't live too far from me, we've never met. I've only met one person from this community, MWirwicki I believe he goes by on this community, at a shoot in the lower peninsula of Michigan a year ago, unless I've met others and have not known about it.

ajbruggink, both Matt and Kyle are top self guy's. If you can work it out you should try to get together and make the trip to Marshall. It's going to be the 25th annual meet next year. It's a good time and great chance to meet members of the site.

Bjrogg is right. I made it for the first time this year and I will not miss it again. So many knowledgeable people. I'd drive twice that far for an event that nice.

You guys are all pretty close to each other and close to EAA Museum at Oshkosh too. You guys should really get together, it's so great to meet other people doing this stuff. I really enjoy it. To me it was just so cool to see someone else shoot their own selfbow and be able to sit down and talk to them. I get to shoot with some guys with selfbows here now, but so far there all bows I made. I'm still working on them though, someday someone is gonna build one with me.

Appleton is about an hour and half, maybe two, away from me.  Not too far for a get together.
