Tillering Gizmo heads up
« on: May 20, 2017, 11:23:06 am »
I have been out in the shop cranking out tillering gizmos, some plain (a lot of 6), some really nice ones out of fancy wood. I am putting these up for auction on the Trad Gang St Jude auction. As the inventor of this simple tool I am even signing each Gizmo, not to stroke my ego but because I have found they bring a bit more money if I sign them. A couple guys got in a bidding war over one of my signed fancy ones last year and bit it up so high it almost embarrassed me at what it brought.

Here are 6 I made out of ERC yesterday, they are offered as a lot.

I have tru-oil finished cedar, walnut and spectacular spalted birch in the works today.

Good on ya. Hope they bring in lotsa $$$ for St Judes!

I cut the spalted birch blanks just now and they were so special I had to post a picture.

Spalted wood has hard and soft spots, only 2 of the blanks made a finished gizmo, the other two chipped out.

Real neat!  How much of a donation bid do they go far, if you don't mind my asking?  Those spalted birch are almost too nice to. Use😀👹 :BB. St Jude does good, a worthy cause!

The Gizmo I mentioned went for $125. I am going to flood the market this time so I suspect much lower prices, a fraction of what that one auctioned for last year. I have 10 made so far and will crank out more before the auction. I ordered a branding iron yesterday to put my logo on them.

One thing to remember about the inflated price my gizmo brought; The guys were making a donation to St Jude's more than they were buying a gizmo.
