Question on Tip Overlays

When were tip overlays first being used? As opposed to horn nocks and the like. Not on Asiatic horn bows but more ELB and American Flatbow styles?

not an expert at all here but the pacific north west natives built their nocks up with sinew for quite some time

I would think when laminated bows became more of the norm. "The Flat Bow" shows overlay like work.
