ALB is an American long bow, a style that was popular back in the 1940s and 1950s. Basically 68" long, 4" handle, 4" fades, 1 3/4" to 2" at the fades and a straight or slightly convex taper to 3/8" tips. I prefer a symmetrical style(center of handle, middle of bow) but the originals had a shorter bottom limb.
I've only made the one lemonwood bow and wanted it to he hickory backed. Rawhide would probably be a good backing for protection. Hickory (or maple) backings add performance also. Lemonwood is said to be susceptible to fretting but I had no problem with the one I made.
