Static #2- Buckthorn

I heard from trusted members that Buckthorn makes a good bow, so I decided to give it a shot.
I wasn't disappointed.
Not only is it tough as nails, but it feels like it's great in compression. It must be pretty decent in tension as well cause this bow was made from a sapling and is highly crowned. I've shot it about a hundred times and at no point have I had that feeling that it's gonna blow. She's holding her profile nicely as well.
Oh yeah, and the steam bending went well. The string alignment was off though, but a whole bunch of tweaking with the heat gun solved that.

Very nice indeed!
Got any pics of the belly? It's beautiful heartwood isn't it?

Thanks DB. I'll take one. It really is beautiful... lots of reddish oranges and yellows.

Nice job. We have Cascara here which is a Buckthorn relative. It grows everwhere and is nice and straight. I'll have to try it.

Good work, I love buckthorn myself. Been a while since I played with any.

That is an excellent looking bow upstate. I really like the short, sharp bends.
