Dart
« on: May 12, 2017, 09:15:04 pm »
All the talk of atlatls and darts has inspired me to work on some new darts, here's the first of a set I'm making. Red osier shaft 67" to base of point (heat treated chert) three feather fletch painted with red and yellow/brownish ochre. It fly's pretty good after testing with a glass point launched into a soft sand pit with hale bales for a target at about 10- 20 yards. I sanded the dirt off the shaft before hafting the point and I will probably keep this one as a wall hanger just because its so deadly looking lol

What a great looking dart! I'm hoping I can get mine to come looking like that, let alone at them that straight.

Very nick few dart Clewis. I really like the stone point to. It's kinda hard to get good pictures of these darts. I bet it looks even better in person.

great dart !
with arrows i always struggle to align the foreshaft and end up having a very specific one for any arrow (not really interchangeable)
How deep is the socket for this one? How do you make it?
