"One-Eyed Willie" 40# @ 27"

Hey you guys! Can anyone guess the movie this is from? Anyway, if you didn't get it from the title, you probably haven't seen it. This bow comes from deep inside an old osage log (another one that was laying around for who knows how long). I calculate that the 3-4 rings of growth it comes from came to be while the above-mentioned movie was being filmed, 1981-1985. Here's some info:

58" ntn
40# @ 27"
cherry bark handle w/ artificial sinew wrapped on top and bottom
padauk tip overlays

The tiller looks good although the upper limb looks a bit still but with that hole I'm not surprised. How does it shoot? I'd imagine it would have a thump when shot.

The tiller was kinda tricky and the extra weight around the hole does effect the overall balance and feel during release. That being said, it shoots fast and pretty comfortably considering.

Great job getting a bow out of that piece of wood.  The tiller is a bit off but you probably already know that.  Your bow gives me a little more hope on the one I have in progress.

If you had cut it in half at the handle and spliced the tip ends you could have  had a nice compound type sight aperture.  ;)

Thanks guys. I'm not crazy about the tiller, but I never made one with a huge hole like that so I was happy to get a shooter.  :)

I don't think your tiller is that off for that cyclops!!!  What a gorgeous little bow.  Way to get a shooter out of that piece of wood.
