Old one eye is a real looker. Nice job getting a bow out of that one. That is a lot of weight out there but it sure looks cool.

I understand about letting the string loose. I built one similar a few years back. Excellent tiller on it though. Working around those kind of knots are a challenge. I like it Arvin.

Thanks BJ. Yeah, I've tried shooting it hole up and hole down. Even though the FD pic is hole up, I think it felt better hole down.

Arvin I think the hardest thing about working around the knot was the ring chasing. I had do dig out lots of different tools to stay with the one I chased.  :KN

Oh man, you like the hard way - do you?
I've made a bunch of bows with knots huge lige this. I would reduce the walls of the eye to an even thickness, just the same like the limb portions above and below. Let the unbraced bow balnce on your finger at pivot point and watch what it does. I assume it produces some handshock at release.
It will not bend because of the geometry, but reduce a lot of weight. Not sure about the first third of the upper limb, maybe it should bend a little more.

Thats quite the big eye socket on Willie. :)  Pretty cool that you got a shooter outta that piece of osage. Bows like this are fun simply because there will never be another exactly like it. Nice work upstate.

Thanks for the tips Simson. This is my first attempt at a bow with a hole like that so any and all input is welcome! Awesome couple of bows you just posted by the way.

BB, I think that's one of the things I love about osage the most... lots of potential for uniqueness and it's one of the only woods that will put up with including such abnormalities and still produce a shooter. Cheers

I was just going through this thread again. Thought I'd already commented. Guess not, nice job, it's fun working around that kind of thing isn't it. Even if the bow doesn't shoot 180fps it's an accomplishment just to get it working. Good job!
