Diddly bow
« on: March 03, 2017, 06:00:22 pm »
Another grandkid project, colt asked me to build him a diddly bow, it is a one string guitar made famous by bo diddly, the neck is a closet rod, the nut a hose clamp, the cigar box is actually a music box, a couple of sink drains and a bolt and a nut for the bridge, gotta make him a slide and a strap and he is all set, where the string comes threw the dowel i used a rivet so it doesn't chew up the wood

I used a wood burner and some brass nails to mark out the basic frets

Real nice Bubby and good use of whatever you had laying around. 3 of my grandkids other grandparents make and play music sticks. They actually sound great and work real nice around campfire.

Love it bub. I really like how you use anything close by to make it. Closet rods, sink drains, screw driver clamp and so on.

Have you ever seen the single string electric basses they make out of old metal flat shovels? Some of those guys in the videos rock those shovels harder than your average band with top notch instruments.
