Should I fret over this?

I was shooting in my first bow...noticed these marks while taking pictures. Do you guys think these are the shellac cracking or are they compression fractures? Thanks!

hard to see!if it's a fret you will feel a little ridge like tectonic plates colliding.

They sure look like compression failure frets.

Now stop worrying about it, shoot the bow unto death as you build the next one.

Yeah it's compression damage. I wouldn't worry though. What's done is done, and it can still serve you for a while. It might eventually break but to quote monte python "I'm not dead yet". The only way you could fix it is to reduce the weight of the entire bow scraping down those damaged cells, but I'm guessing you like the weight where it's at.

It's 1 3/4 wide tapering at 2/3 down to 5/8 at the tips. The belly is rounded but not like an ELB more like rounded corners.

I think it would prolong the life of the bow,, if you reduce the weight and leave that area a bit stiff,,

It's chrysals.
It's bending too much in that area. Leave that area alone and retiiler the limb.
Reduce  the other limb too match.
In addition, a rawhide patch glued on may help.

What the heck kind of wood is that?  How long is it?

Just from the dimensions, I bet it's bending too much inn the middle, like George said.
