Just out of curiosity what was the price tag on that hide to have it follow someone home?

That would seem like a pretty good deal for a tanned steer hide. You could get more than one project out of that hide. A hammock would be kinda cool. Was it tanned?

If you were in the market for one that seems like a heck of a deal to me. I've got $40 for them unfleashed and dirty before.

Three milk crates of knapping is rock following me home on Monday. One from New Mexico and two from Texas.  Also tagging along is around 100 pieces of dead Cholla cactus for stone knife handles and other projects.

I see those cow hides hanging from trucks at intersections  often here in Texas.  Not sure what they get for them.

If anyone is interested I have some old tools that will be following me to the Classic for trade. Old hand saws, a few hand planes and anything else I can find as I clean out the basement.   I'll try to get some pics of what I'll be bringing.

I found a big pneumatic jackhammer in the middle of the road years ago. I gave it back.

whenever I had to use those it wasn't much fun anyway Pat.lol I'm sure whoever you gave it back to apriceated it. Probably made sure it was secured down better before they drove off with it too.lol.

I got a $50 tip and I think the driver lost his job.   I'd seen those things used and had no intention of ever using it. My oil less compressor wouldn't drive it anyway.  ;)  Another time I was behind a dump truck towing a lowboy trailer with a backhoe on it. When the light turned green the truck drove off and the backhoe rolled off the trailer. Glad I wasn't too close behind that.  ::)
