The TBB vol 4 has a plum branch bow on the cover. Does anyone have any access to this type of wood. Or know where I might be able to get a piece of it?

Ya on the plot next to the on-ramp I use taking the kids to school they planted about a hundred plums and there's lots of bows in them..It's driving me crazy!

Maybe, A suprise "wind storm" might occur when no one is around.

That reminds me!.......I've noticed that the local tree nursery has some dry (dead) plum trees, oaks, and such sitting in their yard.......hmmmmm......I wonder if they throw those suckers away?

(I'm goin' to stop in and ask next time I drive by....)

a nursery is a good source for plum and cherry in our area rick . they dont winter well. if i come across anything ill save it for ya. was that you on plr the other morning talking about the governor?

We have 2 nice old plum trees in our back yard, also! Same deal... my wife would remove some useful and necessary anatomy if I cut them down. Actually, they produce beautiful plums, which I'd rather have anyway!

i researched some on sloe, aka blackthorn (prunus spinosa) -

- and i will give that a shot, soon! that is closely related to plum (or prune which is even harder) and grows around here all over the place in diameters 3 to 10", will probably have to splice billets. if it's any good - and i'm sort of sure it is - i'll offer some for trade!

Well it looks like the plum demand is high and supply is low. I'm putting a couple of requests out to some local fruit tree guys. I don't know if they will appreciate the idea of me cutting the trees up that they make their living from. We shall see. In the meantime if any one gets some for trade let me know. Out of curiosity....Would y'all think trees like apple, pear, cherry, ect work about the same as plum? live in an apple growing area. (we can most of your "white house" apple stuff and some mott's round here..).And have a huge flowering cherry i need to prune, with some 4" kinda straight limbs. Haven't seen TBB4, but what would the basic plan be?

cherry makes a pretty decent bow, apple is another i would like to have. anyone with fruit staves, hook me up!
