pretty nice looking work asharrow. natural back I think? what diameter log did it take to get that width and crown?
IF I remember correctly, the log was 6 or 7 inches in diameter. I haven't cut an elm bigger than that. I do remember, that I ripped the staves out with my chain saw. And yes, that is the back right under the cambium. It was cut while dormant.
Thanks to all for the very merciful comments. I'm not ashamed of the workmanship, but I'm still embarrassed about not noticing a 1-1/2 inch difference in the limbs.
Shot it some more today and can't find any fault in it. Still no string follow. Guess I like too.
