String making

When twisting a Flemish string,  to make the loop do you twist in the same direction as from the start to finish.

Yes. But you'll have to pre-twist the bundles as shown here, before making the 2nd loop..

What I'm not fully sure of is how much to pre-twist them. Or to prevent cabling.. and when to reverse twist the entire string vs. just the loops: I think the entire string should be reverse twisted only if using shorter natural fibers? But otherwise only the loops.

Just reverse twist about an inch past where the string is doubled ends, i dont pre twist the string bundles in the opposite direction i just make sure they are perfectly straight before starting the second loop
failure is an option, everyone fails, it's how you handle it that matters.

Thanks.  I got cabling on one string I made, it just seems to me that when I twist a string I have to serve the ends to hold it all together so I'm doing something wrong........ ::)

On another note, the last batch of arrows I made are basically dead on.   :)  Douglas fir.

After making 1st loop I then separate individual strings. Then put strings of each bundle together and reverse twist each bundle down length of upper leg twice (real technical, huh). Then proceed with making 2nd loop.

2 bundles.  I looked at the video, I have watched others, but in one eye and out the other.   ???
I know what I was doing wrong, and that was not twisting both together. :P
