Updated shop pictures. (Metal Roof is on)
« on: January 17, 2017, 11:56:54 am »
At long last, we are in the final stage of the shop out back.  Gone a stage at a time wrestling with the city but we are almost there.  First was just getting the permit to install the shipping container.  Took a LONG time.  Next we poured the concrete slab and had run out 220.  Finally, here comes the overhang outdoor work area.  This past weekend we completed the struts and reinforcing straps to keep with code.  All that is left is welding in a couple steel pieces for mounting and installing the metal roof.  Should be done this Sunday!

It is nice to be working out there more now.  I can't wait to move out my band saw and put in the work benches, etc.
Had my mom over Sunday, she has advanced Parkinson's and can't live independently.  She doesn't get to garden much anymore in her new facility.  Digging in the dirt was her great passion, environmental conservation, etc.  We brought her out and sat her on the picnic table and she spend an hour or two pruning our hanging orchids.  She had a taste of her happiness, again, after a long time.

The covered outdoor area will be great for family and friends to unplug, create, cook, talk, eat, etc.

Almost there!

Cheers

Looks great Steve. Nothing like having your own work space...and having it as a family out door space is a plus.

WHOA! That project turned into a full blown building. Looking good, Steve-O.

What a fine recreate space you've created. Some thinkin' has gone into this! Congrats!!

That is looking great, Steve. I've been thinking about doing that on the property in SC for a small cabin.

Thanks guys.

Eddie, I say you can't go wrong.  The price is super cheap, it's easy to do work on yourself, things will basically never break, they could be insulated, they could be stacked, essentially fire proof, you can weld things to the wall, cleaning requires a leaf blower, the list goes on and on.  Shoot, if I wasn't married I'd sell the house and buy property and build a compound out of these things for dirt cheap and retire.  Bye bye mortgage.  Someday...

Roger - We'd love to have you here anytime.  Angie would be thrilled.

Sorry the first two aren't oriented properly.  I'm not sure why they've been doing this recently, they don't appear that way before I post them...

Better put the sprinkler on the roof for those hot days.  ;)
Looking good, Steve. Great multi-use space.
