The Type 10 bodkins about 10 minutes each. I'm still learning, and have only been forging for less than a year. I think by the time I've done a few hundred they'll be down to 5 mins or so.
The Type 16s take me far too long at the moment - from the very start of the process to quenching after grinding the blades is around 45 minutes. They're made in two parts, and welded together using the heat of the forge, and as a beginner I'm still learning exactly what temperature to get them. Too cold and they don't weld, ruining the socket when I come to hammer them together. Too hot and the blades melt!
