Finished up adding the drop to this bear claw necklace. My good friend Eric Smith (indianguy for those of you who frequent the bows section) purchased this originally and offered to sell it and I jumped at it. The claws are hand carved and appear to be made from bone or possibly wood. The fur is otter which was the most frequently used fur when making these. I don't know the age of this necklace but it does appear to have some age.
I decided to add a drop which traditionally was very common. Without having a light colored otter hide I decided to use some brain tanned buckskin instead. The long fringe is colored with red ocher as well the rest of the drop. Hand rolled tin cones with two hand painted imitation eagle feathers complete the drop. I have a set of claws to make another one of these that I'll do at a later point.
