removing hhb bark cut in the winter
« on: December 27, 2016, 05:08:30 pm »
Hi folks. I know it's best to cut hhb when the sap is running, but I couldn't help myself. Has anyone put a stave in the hot shower and then removed the bark? This is my plan. Thanks

The  cambium will still be moist right now and you can still push the bark off with a spoon tip. It only really sticks if you let it dry in place.
I usually shave most of the bark and inner bark off and then plough the bark off within a few days. That way it's only stuck like damp cardboard.
