Warbow Whitewood stave
« on: December 27, 2016, 03:52:03 pm »
Hey Guys I want to build myself a #100lb bow out of a whitewood or any other wood that is not Hickory, maybe American Elm, but I need a long stave maybe like 75-80 inches in length and straight knot free. I have some backstrap sinew. Send me a PM thank you

I have 4 staves with plenty of length, fairly straight and no knots, all 4 are white ash, cut by me 2 summers ago, 2 with bark on and 2 with bark off - all 4 were and are being stored outside.  The 2 with bark off are a little discolored - not sure about them - the 2 bark on staves I think are great - as it was 3 with bark on not too long ago and the 3rd made fairly nice bow - although not war bow length or poundage.

If you want some pics, let me know.  I am sure if you are interested, we would work out a trade.

Hi Russ
thanks for the reply. Do you know what type of ash it is?

I think white ash, but would not swear to it.
