Handle Material?
« on: December 20, 2016, 08:27:09 am »
Just thought it might be fun to hear about what material folks have used for handle wrapping. I'll go first...

jute cord
leather
leather cord
deer hide

I'm kinda a fan of a naked handle but I did wrap one with leather from an old couch Pearl rescued from the side of the road. I cut it in stripes and wrapped it like cord. I've never used it but I really like the look of beaver tail too. Only going by looks on the beaver never actually held on in my hand.

Naked, or wool trade cloth with a buckskin thong over it. Is it okay to use naked and thong in the same sentence? Curtis

I use hemp cordage from WalMart set in Massey finish on most of the bows I make.

My favorite is deer leather, but I've used elk, cow, snapping turtle, beaver tail, stingray, etc.
