Holey Hatchet finished

This idea has been bouncing around in my head for a while and I think it's finally time to do something about it. This chunk of osage was from a stave that I gave to PatB. He cut the knot off the end and made a nice sinew backed recurve out of the stave. He saved the knot hole and gave it back to me. I should be able to follow the grain around the knot hole similar to how you do it on a bow limb. I think the handle will be just as strong as a normal one if I do it right.
I'll have to steam bend it straight after I get it roughed out.
I think this is the head that I'm going to put on it. I've got some better ones but this is the cleanest.

Cool Clint. I knew you'd find a use. It was too cool of a knot to burn.

Good idea Clint. I have been working on a set of three hatchets also lately, they are going to be Christmas gifts for my dad and my brothers.
I really like the idea of the hole though, that's gonna be really neat

That should be a family heirloom!

Thanks guys. It's been slow progress today. I've been doing some cleaning and other work. I did cut off some excess wood on the bandsaw.
