osage pen
« on: December 01, 2016, 10:13:50 am »
A while back i gave a friend of mine at work some fancy wood scraps for turning, he makes pens in his off time. Anyway i was off work for 8 weeks and when i came back he gave me this nice osage pen. I always thought it would be cool to sign my osage bow with a osage pen and now my next finished bow gets it

That's a cool pen.  Your friend at work must have missed you while you were off
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

I've got an osage pen as well, my boss made it from some osage I gave him a while ago- Osage turns really nice and comes out super pretty. I've been wanting a fountain pen for a bit, but not sure what I'm going to use - either more osage, some yew I have, or some magnolia or mulberry-

I'm starting to have a decent supply of turning stock it seems.

I love fountain pens. Writing with them is a shear joy.  I made one very similar (only with an ebony-like wood) to that that is sitting next to my computer right now.  I will have to post a picture.  Your friend does very good work.
