I have two good six foot boards of solid ERC heartwood, no troubling knots, just beautiful dark purple that I've been storing for myself a bow. With looking at making a long draw bow, I fixured six feet of this stuff and about four courses of sinew should get me where I want to go.
One of the boards has near five inches of reflex. That's nice, but I was told D/R was where I need to be. So should I splice in static tips or bend them or what? And if bend, what method? My goal is a nice asymmetric five curve when I'm done. I expect the handle will be glued up like any horn bow core, but what about the tips is my question. I can build a bow core normally, never tried this wood.
