Turkey....gobble gobble
« on: November 21, 2016, 07:19:40 pm »
Took this fella today with my Bob Lee.  Using a bamboo shaft I bought on ebay.   Fletcher with turkey feathers.  Using a 357 Magnum casing with a aluminum roofing nail through the center.   Have to go back out tomorrow to find the arrow.    Beard measured 13"  and he dressed out at 22.47#  that's my wife standing behind him.

Beautiful bird!  How did the hunt go down?  Did he walk by your stand?  Break up the flock and bring him in with kee kee's? Spot and stalk?

I don't hunt from a stand or blind.   I stalked the flock for about 15 minutes.  I can at them from down wind using a thicket as cover.   I waited til they turned away from me.   Stood up and popped him.   Believe it or not he wasn't the largest.   A second male tool off who was easily larger.   Still my biggest bird to date.

I always need feathers. Send me a PM and maybe we can work out a trade of some kind.

How did you kill it with a blunt and nail? Head shoot it? :o

Stalked the flock, now that is amazing. :) You must have some really brushy country around there. Nice bird for sure. :)

Heck of a good shoot there Wvfarrier, I'm hoping to get a chance at one someday. I'm thinking I'd still have a hard time making that shot though.
