It's a good place to use excess horn that's laying around with those inserts on the nocks. There is a longitudal line grain to horn.Length wise with the length of the shaft seems to work the best.Longer inserts for more reflexed pre loaded bows.Usually with just a regular self bow an inch is long enough.Putting them in does'nt seem to take me any longer than wrapping the nocks.

Yeah, they sure do add a pretty high degree of class to the arrows, as well as good function.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Very nice work Ed in all aspects, nice save and looks like it all worked out great, I love them Osage staves that have the snakes in just the right place for the arrow pass, I have a few like that and they really shoot nice and make for easier arrow tuning , and of course I love the flipped tip, I do almost all my that way. :)

That's a beautiful set of arrows, Ed.  Nice work!  I only have one osage bow with a natural kink in the handle like that.  It's my best shooter, or maybe just the one that is most forgiving of my crappy form.  Agree with you and Pappy 100% on how easy it is to get good arrow flight with a bow like that.

Thanks pap & GB.....Most hedge got some kind of wiggles seems like.Sometimes it can do us favors like this. It'll make a good target bow at the 3D shoots to keep my FG bow shooter buddies in line about wooden bows till next hunting season and will  try to get a deer or a turkey with it.

I'm a sucker for a plant fiber handle wrap. My favorite style. Beautiful weapon.

Just the same as Simson Ed, you must have posted this one while we where digging beets. She's a real beauty and those arrow are fantastic to. Are the spruce shoot shafts or parallel? Only asking cause I'm always on the lookout for good shaft material, their beautiful in any case. The near center shoot really is nice for tuning arrow to bow. That is a beautiful bow and I love how the wiggles in the handle  worked out for you. Very nice profile and holding it good to. Thanks for entering her in the BOM. Glad I didn't miss her completely sorry didn't post reply sooner.

Thanks fellas. It was fun to make. They entered it into the self bows contest.Don't think it qualifies with a rawhide backing there though.Lots of good bows entered this month in both catagories.Self and backed.

Beautiful bow, I really like the handle area.  Center shot helps.
