Lilac static recurve

Hi folks,

Here's one I finished up at the end of the summer. It's made from lilac (Rochester is home of the Lilac Festival so this bow is kind of a "shout out" to my hometown).

64" ntn
45# at 27"
heat treated belly
black leather handle wrap
text on the belly is J.R.R. Tolkien's elvish script and reads "concentration" above the handle and "imagination" underneath
         these are supposedly two of the folkloric properties of lilac wood
backed with black Elephant Hide origami paper (not really from an Elephant, high tensile-strength paper)

Really nice. Hard to find a piece of lilac long enough for a full draw, let alone a stiff handle and recurves. Well done !

Tree Ninja- The folks on grounds duty at Highland Park (home of the Lilac Festival) are cutting the stuff all the time and don't mind at all if I take stuff away, so I'll be on the lookout and perhaps we could find a way to get you something nice.

Stickbender- Thank you for the compliment on bow and glass. My wife's father salvaged it from a church being torn down in Pennsylvania.

Wow, I sure haven't seen many lilac bows.  Nice work on a great looking bow.
I've eyed up the lilacs in my backyard, but they're all gnarly and twisted.
