I have some opalized wood from Idaho/Oregon but I am afraid to try it!!! I am not good enough yet. Get job Zuma I admire both your skill and brave heart!!!

Well I am not to sure about the wood but the huge nodules of opal I have been
working with, give me a ratio of about one point per pound of material. About
five percent.
Some times it makes me ill to smash up any more.

But then after a while I do it again.

Thanks for taking my mind off you know what. I had to get some sleep need to be at the field by 5:00am no matter the outcome. Plus 1 what Orrum said. Zuma you are an inspiration to myself and I'm sure many more on this site. Thanks for sharing great work as always

Petrified opalized wood is a great knapping material with the advantage that spalls or flakes can be used by myself to make cabochon for jewelry. I saw it into slabs and try to knapp that for rare material but I stink at knapping compared to you Zuma so waiting is best b4 I try my small supply.
