Eucalyptus ELB, ..with a twist (pics) not for BOM

Finished tillering 5 months ago, got a finish on last week.

68"ntn, 62# @27", silk backed, osage overlays, hemp handle, ebony stain, linseed oil/shellac finish

Lovely bow, does it shoot well? 

Osage overlays... isn't the purpose to use something tough to protect the wood underneath?  But I've seen people put overlays on top of osage bows so now I'm confused.  Is there any reason you can't just leave an extra growthring or two on the main stave at the tips?
