Nice work. I've found Elder to be a very good wood. I have my eye on a piece for a flight bow
I had one bow that was fast as heck until I forgot it was only tillered to 26" and it went BANG at 28"
Mind it was a very good quality BANG  ::)

Very nice bow from that challenging piece of wood with those knots.Fine pointed tips.Elderberry here never seems to get big and thick enough to get a bow from.

it's really a nice bow. Very well executed.
I have a helderberry stave waiting for some attention and I planned to make it a stiff handle.
After seeing yours I'm tempted to go for a D style.

Absolutely outstanding sir !!!!! The entire look of the bow is indeed a poster child for this site. These "simple" bows take a truly skilled bow maker to bring out their beauty....well done Mr. Jonas

Thank you  :)
@Chris: Here is a picture of what I mean. These "secondary" trunks are in my experience less likely to have spiral growth.
@Stalker. sure, you can do that  ;). But if you look closely, I dont think you need my help. The bark of elder is very easy to read, so its no problem to find out if it has spiral growth (at the latest, you will see it when working with the draw knife). If it has spiral growth, I would try a flat bow. If not, try a D-profil. Most times the belly is not the main issue but the back.

Jonas, cut the tree I mentioned. It is 206 cm long and 6 cm in diameter. Has 5 cm reflex on the tension side. I am not disappointed! :)
