I love ground blinds
« on: October 08, 2016, 10:23:07 am »
The moon phase was right for afternoon hunting a few days ago so off I went.

I don't wear camo anymore although my cat quiver is camo, I have had it for years and really like it so I guess I will make an exception in it's case.

when I build a blind I build a BLIND! This one should out last me because of the cedar logs. I have killed two deer out of the blind with my flintlock but didn't have room to draw my bow inside the blind until I rebuilt it last week, there is plenty of room now.

My view from the blind, 5 white oaks, acorns were dropping like rain.

I like comfort;

Osage static recurve, 571 gr cane arrow with a Zwickey Delta on the business end.

Well, my lucky hat didn't come through for me that day. When the deer showed up I turned in the blind and tinked my bow against one of the logs in the blind. The deer thought of somewhere else they would rather be.

I love it! Ain't nothing like hunting from the ground.
I have hunted from the ground most of my life.  With the exception of a few tree stands.  I've had better luck shooting from the ground.  There just seems to be something unnatural about a tree stand.  Deer are used to seeing larger things move on ground level.
Nice blind for sure! Brush in the top some, it might help a bit.

Building a bow has been the most rewarding, peaceful, and frustrating things I have ever made with my own two hands!

Nice blind Eric, it is easier to get comfortable even take a little nap on the ground. the shoot angles are nicer to. I've never hunted from a tree till this year it definitely takes a little getting use to. I can see a few changes I want to make next year.
