tiller help

I am stuggling with this one. Its white oak, I am currently at 40lbs @21". I would like to get 50lbs @ 26". The set is about a 1/4" right now, but I dont feel confident in the tiller. Any help is appreciated.

I think you need to get the fades bending. it's maybe just a tad bit whipended

I thought the same as JW at 1st but it looks like your unbraced profile has a quite a bit reflect in the fades. Might not be to bad, hard for me to tell. I do agree with JW on out 1/3 wouldn't take anymore there. How close are you on draw and wieght? I'm no expert and the reflex in the handle might be throwing me for a loop. You might want to see what others say, but I think I'd take off from fades and mid limb.

bjrogg , I would like to get 50lbs at 26" but I have only pulled  it to 40lbs at this point, and that took it out to 21". Do you guys think if I take some wood off the fades and midlimb that I would be safe to pull to 50lbs?

Looking at it on my I-phone so take with a grain of salt. Agree with leaving tips alone but almost looks like the start of a possible hinge right at the fade on the right side. Could be an optical illusion though. I agree with Buckeye, slowly exercise it up to 50# before removing any more and see what you have.

  Reflexing right off the handle like that will sometimes give you a bow that starts to stack at full draw. I would slowly work it up to 50# as suggested monitoring the set as you go. I would take more out in the inner 1/3 limbs.

Thank you for your replies folks, I will get it out to 50lb tommorrow and see what I have. After bentsick54's  reply, I see three possible hinges. The other two are out  towards the tips. I am a little nervous cause I have broke a few bows this year :-\

Badger I see what you mean on reflexing the handle, that clears up the string angle issue I was seeing.

40 @ 21"......aiming for 50#@26" you have very little wood to remove. You do need to get the inner 1/3 working some more though. I'd be aiming for 45# finished with a good tiller. The string angle thing is why I wouldn't use reflexed handle designs anymore on a wooden bow, I use steam to straighten any natural handle reflex.
