That's two broken bows in a row for me Eddie. I quit!

Yea, Right. :) The last Yew I broke was a spliced preform that was the last one that Glen St. Charles put together, I was sick.

I've made two Yew Bows over the years - one blew up late in the tillering and the other was finished - hanging on the Wall at Matts place. I don't trust the wood at ALL. Grab Ya a nice piece of Yella Wood and crank one out Brother ! Just like ridin' a bike - Bob.

I'm pretty sure that if you had taped and painted that wall, the Yew bow would have survived a LOT better!  Right Mike?  >:D   >:D   >:D

I'll take a pure, knot free, pipe straight, piece of Eastern Red Cedar over Yew. You should try a piece, Pearlie >:D ;).

A lot of hate going on for yew! It by far my favorite to work, I think its the only bow wood I've tried that I could get short bows with long draw lengths and not break them. That being said, I've never finished a bow from osage, only started one. I have a stave from Osage Outlaw sitting in the shop that I may one day start. With all this love for Osage, I looked forward to really working with it.

I would use yew full time if I didn't have osage. Its great bow wood, that knot just decided it didn't want to hold together. The next one could have the same knot and live for 10000 shots. The bow I broke prior to this build was osage. It happens!

  • If the wood will bend, I'll make it beautiful!

I think he would be good at that Scott, he is getting plenty of practice right now! >:D
