Good morning. On Tuesday, I took half a day off from school to take my dad to the doctor. In less than a month he went from living a self sufficient life to needing constant care and being confined to a wheelchair. My mom couldn't get him in and out of the car.
I never thought I would one day find myself sitting in a doctor's patient room to hear that my dad needed to go on hospice. He explained the process to my mom, my dad and I. Then I translated it.
That evening I sat our three kids down and let them know. It's been hard on Diego.
This morning my dad let me know that they are selling the place and moving an hour and a half away to be close to my sister. He said, "I'm old, I'm tired, I'm sick and I can't do anything outside anymore."
They will stay with my sister until that happens. I drive them up there on Thursday. I let the kids know about that today. They live five minutes away now.
Before receiving the news about hospice on Tuesday, I had begun an application to a medical facility in San Diego that my dad can receive a life saving treatment. You have to be accepted as a patient, and my dad qualified.
I'm asking if you could please keep my dad and our family in your thoughts and prayers. My dad was put on hospice on Tuesday. He has been given months to live. If you can please share this link on your social media and ask your friends and family to share it too, it would be very much appreciated.
