Pacific Yew Recurve Self bow......

Hi Guy's,
Here is a bow i have just finished, It was going to be an ELB but the stave came with quite a bit of natural string follow/ Reflex so I decided to recurve the tips to get some performance into the bow. The result is a fine looking bow that shoots wonderfully.

75" NtN, 55lb @ 28", shoots best with a 7" brace height.

Superb bow. Reminds me of some elvish bow (very long with recurved tips). :)

But I couldn't help not notice that its fairly thick in dimensions for such "low" poundage. Is that yew you worked with of lesser density? I heard that yew has that particular "problem" where there are different density yews in the same area.
Also, do you think these recurved tips add to speed or that is case for the short bows?

Hi stalker,

The yew dimensions are not as thick as they seem and there are quite a lot of growth rings. (about 24 per1/2") so it is quite dense......
the flipped tips give the bow some speed that is for certain, as i said the problem with this stave is that the stave was already bending with the string.
Not ideal.
You can see in the photo below the curve in the centre of the bow, that was already there before tillering.
Having said that, the bow is very forgiving and easy to shoot....
