Opening day.
« on: September 23, 2016, 07:38:21 am »
Opening day, here I come. ;D ;D ;D  It would seem as many years as I have done this [41 ]that the excitement of opening day would ease a little, but that's not the case, I am like a kid at the candy story the day and night before the opening day of Bow season, I will hardly sleep tonight I can guarantee that, will be up every 15 minutes checking the clock and finely up for good by 4am maybe earlier just itching to get in the woods, probably be in the stand at least an hour maybe a little more before shooting light, just can't wait. I love it all the time but something about opening morning just fires me off. Hope everyone has a good one whenever yours opens and hope most feel the same excitement as I feel. Love it. ;)

Good luck Pappy.  I hope a fat doe or a nice buck walks by in range for you.  I will miss my opening morning for only the second time in 25 years.  My daughter has a big cross country meet that morning.  She has really worked hard this year and I don't want to miss seeing her win the conference meet.  I'll  be out opening night though.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

I am going to stay home tomorrow, Tn season always opens before I am ready to hunt. I still have bush hogging to do and stands to put up plus the 90+ degree temps take the fun out of it for me.

Yall have fun. Opening day is oct 1st for us. But, right now I dont have a place to keep any deer I shoot. I gadda find a friend with a freezer. Or buy one and keep it at their place. I wont have much time to hunt either unless i take time off work, but I do have sundays and thanksgiving. And I have some short bows that are just begging me to take them into the woods.

Yall have fun, good luck, and be safe!

It is the ingrained hunter in us. Some of us have it, some don't. Those of us that do know all about it!

Good luck Pappy!  I have a little less than three weeks of anticipation to go.  Fields to disc and planting to be done, so that will keep me busy for the next couple of weeks.  Once the days start getting shorter, the acorns start dropping, Orion's belt  shows up in the night sky, I get afflicted with a loss of hair on my left forearm.... If I get to use every broadhead I have sharpened in the last week, I should have a freezer full! ;D  I will never get cured of this excitement.  I have over forty years of hunting seasons behind me, and I am as stoked about this one as I was about the first one.  Planning a hunt, setting up a tree stand, building a ground blind, doing the scouting, is all good and I enjoy it, but that first morning waiting on the sun to come up is a special thing.  It won't be long now!

I get to be out in the woods sunday. A deer this year would be especially nice. I cant decide if I am hunting with slightly ticked again or another even shorter one.
