Well I was heating an osage stave and it cracked near the handle on the belly. I super glued it and then took the bow down some more.
As I took it down the crack almost disappeared . So I soaked some raw hide and sinew and glued and wrapped it. Was I dump to try to
save the bow? Or could this work ?

Were you trying to reflex it? Is the crack with the grain or across it?

It's never a mistake to try and save a bow...
It may not work but you will learn, and that may allow you to save one later...

 I opened the crack first and filled it with the super glue. The line I saw was very faint before I wrapped it. ???

Like Del said, It's worth a shot. I don't know if a wrap on a belly crack does anything but if it makes you feel better I guess it's doing something.

Can it be shortened on one end to make the crack in the handle?

 Hey , yes it can. Thanks, didn't think along that line. Right were I wrapped it could work perfect.
Give me a bit shorter bow , but good.

 Being that the crack is on the compression side it is probably less apt to cause a problem. I would have done just what you did with the super glue but I don't think the wrap is necessary...although, it won't hurt anything either where it is.

I'm thinking the way Pat B is. There have been primitive bows with horn or antler pieces just butt joined on the belly side. Certainly worth trying to save it.

There is no glue that has the flexibility and compression strength of wood so if the wood works at all then it won't do a thing, been there done that
