Argentine Osage

Has anyone worked with Argentine osage? Just thinking, and need some input before I go waste some money.

Joe, my only experience was with a pair of slats I got from David Knight. I used them to beef up a 60" osage static recurve that I tillered out too soon after it was cut. The bow took excessive set and fretted pretty badly. I ground the belly flat and added the Argentine osage to the belly and retillered the bow. It worked out great. The only difference I could find between the two was the color. The Argentine osage worked like our US variety. The shade of yellow was the only difference that I could tell. David thought highly of it in BBO bows he made.

I have used the slats a couple times and backed 'em with boo. Made some sweet bows, like Pat said... Works just like ours just a darker color.

I made a hickory backed several years ago. I'm sure the wood was better than what I made of it. Id like to try again with a bit more knowledge behind it. For all I knew then? It acted like osage that grows here.

Hmmm, I wonder if the woodcraft down the street can order any for me, I know they don't normally carry it. I'm going to ask about that though.  I have been wanting to build a BBO lately.

I'm sure they can. They have always been very helpful to me .

I tried a self bow from a stave I got from Badger but it created a crack across the belly the first time I came to full draw. It seemed drier and lighter than Osage.
