Does Snakeskin add Draw Weight?
« on: July 30, 2016, 12:43:10 pm »
Hello everyone,

I am backing a bow with snakeskin and I'm wondering if any of you have ever experienced an increase in draw weight when you used snakeskin.  Perhaps if I prop the tips up and tie the handle down or something so I can glue the snake skin on when there is some backset applied to the bow and it will act as a parry reflex?  Any of you have experience with this? Also, the bow I want to back with the skins is a bow that is already finished and sealed.  Do I have to sand all the finish off before applying the skins to the back?

Thank you for your help!

Simple answer: Nope.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Can I still apply snakeskin to a finished bow or do I have to take the finish off the bow first?

Just lightly sand it and then glue it down.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?
