Sinew backed chokecherry bow
« on: July 21, 2016, 12:33:36 am »
Hello fellas, I finished this chokecherry bow up a few months ago.  This bow pulls 50# @ 25 inches, 55 inches nock to nock, it has antler tip overlays, it has smoked brain tan for the handle wrap, B 50 string with beaver fur silencers, and earth pigments for the paint, and I put 5 coats of tung oil for the finish.  I cut this stave about 3 years ago, so it was well seasoned.  I left the bark on it and sealed up the ends after reading about how bad chokecherry will check.  This is a very quick bow to shoot, I am quite impressed with the way this chokecherry performs.  Thanks for looking.

Hi Marlen, this bow is a dream! The side profiles are just looking great, esp. like the unbraced with the reflex.
I read that some tribes used chokecherry quite often.

Nice job on that bow.  Great job showing it too with your photos.  I love the grain in that chockcherry and you got a beautiful bend there.

Nice work. Choke cherry looks a lot like ocean spray, a whole lot.
