What are you seeing Tiller
« on: July 18, 2016, 12:31:04 pm »
Hi Fellas I'm working on my first short draw bow the tips will be flip & going to heat in some reflex reverse string & sinew with more reflex this stave has a huge undulution on the upper limb in the pic also in that limb has about 1 1/4 of natural deflex,at brace all marks measure the same on both limbs but as seen the bottom limb is bending more , in the draw pick I'm only pulling about 16 in.  The bow is 45 in. Ntn, what's every body's thoughts , this one is a tuff tiller for me, at this point my plan is to stop tillering & flip the tips & heat in the reflex and go from there. I'm leaving the outers wide & stiff tell I flip them ?

Looks like just some work near that undulation on the top limb. Seems stiff there. Bottom looks good.- brendan

For what my 2cents is worth in draw picture it looks like you might be holding bow with pressure on bottom of handle ( base of your hand) it also looks to me like your pulling string from a nock high point. I believe this may rotate bow in your hand putting pressure point low on handle and more draw on lower limb but I could be completely wrong. Just what I'm seeing

Yup, upper limb stiff.
Maybe just try the bow up the other way...

I'm with ya Del.............If the handle will allow it flip the bow top to bottom...some times that's all it takes.

Is the arrow pass at center? I guess that is what I should have asked.
If not then why not?
I've shot bend in the handle bows with the arrow pass at center and sometimes around an inch above.
I'm having a hard time going what is going on here.

George I  guess  that's just how I held it to take the pic the bow is still in the ruff tillering stages  haven't realy decided where the arrow pass is going to be tell I can get it complete & find the sweet spot  after flip, reflex & sinew  was just trying to get some imput since the brace was spot on but the one limb was bending more was all.

There is a weak spot in the lower limb that needs sorting out too.
