Greetings from Finland!
I made this bow in the purpose to use it in WFAC 2016. This World Field Archery Champioship Competition will be shot in late September this year in Wagga Wagga, Australia. (Hopefully some of you readers will be there and challenge me!)
I glued 4-5 mm thick Bamboo on 5 mm thick Ipe and 15 mm Osage Orange on belly. Osage was Z-glued at handle from billets. On the handle area I glued some 8 mm Ipe to cover the Z-joint. Unibond800 was used for gluing.
After removal of excess wood the bow was 70" n-t-n and 81 lbs @ 28". Handle width is 28 mm, depth 32 mm and the limbs narrowed to 12 mm at water buffalo horn nocks. The limbs are flatter than official ELB requirements but the spirit is there, I think. Some 7-8 layers of TruOil spread over the bow and dark blue leather on handle and blue Dacron as string.
After some shooting I found the lower limb started to bend more and the tiller turned some 3-4 mm "up-side-down". I decided to shorten the bow by 1" from both limbs, made new nocks and sanded the upper limb enough to turn the tiller back to more correct. After that the bow is now 68,3" n-t-n and 83 lbs @ 28".
I´ve made also 2 x 15 arrows in Finnish Flag colours to be used in the above mentioned competition.
