Couple of osage bows
« on: June 28, 2016, 01:25:45 pm »
I haven't posted any bows in ages so here are a couple I've just finished up. A pyramid and a flipped tip/recurve. Both are 45#@27. The pyramid shoots 10 gpp arrows at around 170 - 175 fps. It has self nocks, Samba deer antler inlaid arrowpass and textured leather grip. The recurve shoots 10gpp arrows at 175 - 180fps. It has deer antler overlays and the same deer inlaid arowpass and leather handle.

Great looking bows Mike. What length are they?
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

Nice work. I like your style.
Straight wood may make a better bow, but crooked wood makes a better bowyer

  Excellent bows, the bow I hold the broadhead record with is shooting about the same speed as these bows.

Beautiful work, Osage sure looks like great wood, too bad I can't find any here in Brazil and it would be a rip off to import it from the States.

  Knotty, I don't know how old you are but I bet if uyou planted some there in about 15 years you might have some excellent bow wood. I would be curious how the rings would grow in Brazil.

Mike I really like the looks of those two bows.  Osage is so nice to work and has such a nice color.  You have a great touch.

@Badger , I'm 16 (17 in December) ,
Well .. I mean .. I'll have wood for when I'm in my thirties... 😂
That's not a problem, we have family property in a country area,
was actually thinking of reforestation in one of the spots there, could plant trees and leave 'em there forever pretty much.

Now , the one million dollar question: Where the heck am I gonna find Osange Cuttings or propagating mediums here in Brazil?

Unless someone's kind enough to gift me some seeds? 😉
