Montagnard Crossbow Backing
« on: June 28, 2016, 01:33:21 pm »
I have a Montagnard crossbow I recently finished that I want to back while it is strung backwards in order to hold a reflex. I have rawhide and Yucca. Which would hold the reflex better and prevent breaking? Other Suggestions of natural material?

Rawhide doesn't hold reflex, yucca may hold some. Neither will keep it from breaking. An even, properly distributed bending limb(s) will.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

Yucca probably stretches less.
I have an old mahogany crossbow I got from a flea market years ago that looks similar to this crossbow. Same trigger especially.
