Primitve ELB Rebuild - Kudos to Weylin
« on: June 25, 2016, 03:51:32 pm »
I had a primitive yew ELB that wasn't quite right for me and my wife needed a new selfbow after her lemonwood blew up in her face on the range. Fortunately, Weylin Olive (Swiftwood Bows) had some free time in between custom builds and he took on the project of adjusting the length, draw weight, handle style, grip and finish. The bow turned out great and shot perfectly for my wife out on the 3D range today.

It is now 35# @ 28".  The bow was about 43# when I sent it to Weylin.

My wife broke the wrist on her bow arm last year and she has had to drop down about 7-8# from what she had been shooting before.

That's a beauty of a bow. What are some of the other "stats" on it ?

Yeah, ol' Weylin knows how to work on a bow.  Good sorta feller, after all is said and done.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

I like giving bows a second life, they are often all the better for it :)

PaulN - bow is 67" N2N and limbs are about 1' 1/4" wide at the handle.  No tip overlays.  Has about 1 1/2" of string follow. Weylin wanted to add some reflex to the limbs to take care of it and add some zip, but I  asked him to just keep it simple. Forgot what the grip is made out of but is feels very nice in the hand and looks sharp.
