The goal with creating this simple temporary lean to camp was to spend some woods time with my young Grandson making a camp out of materials on the property. Cost was zero and the time we spent together making it was priceless! Framework is made of mostly dead branches. We did cut two small live saplings for the ridge poles. I did not want to strip bark off several large trees for the roof so we substituted a old tarp from our wood pile for the roof. The tarp was then covered with several inches of leaves. We built some benches from some scraps I had, dug a fire pit, put up some crude shelves and buried a hidden cache filled with some items we scrounged or made. The sign we hung up is a old time Hobo symbol meaning a safe place to camp. Now I know to some it may seem crude but it was a fun little project to do with him and we now have a Woods bum Camp to hang out at this Summer.
