ntn or tip to tip

This is probably a stupid question, but when people say their bow is so long, is it understood to be nock to nock or tip to tip? Forgive the incompetance.

Most guys say NTN or tip to tip. If they say 54" long and don't specify I would guess tip to tip. Justin

For me it is usually t/t. t/t measures the length of the bow. n/n is a standardized measurement from AMO and is what most folks use.   Pat

I usually use n-n ,Like frank said tips can be way different. :)

I personally like N/N - that's the wood that's actually working. Anything outside the string is just extra baggage.

On the few bows that I made with horn tips I measured n/n but all of my regular bows I measure t/t.  ;)   Pat

You know that is a good question myself have shot bows for awhile and made three of them but it would be nice if somebody done the acronyms and defintions of them  elb erc ntn tt ?

i believe some of those acronyms are
elb= english long bow
erc=english red cedar
ntn=nock to nock
tt=tip to tip

show some more acronyms that need defining and i'l try my best on them.  otay
