R&D 2016 #22
« on: May 17, 2016, 09:25:40 pm »
I am so glad to be back on this page. After a year of just knapping the urge has hit me and this is my first bow of 2016. #22 self bow.
A R&D that was started back in 2014 and shelfed. The bow is a bois de arc, with string on its 58" ntn. The string is flimish twist FF. The snake skins are diamonds that I received from Cipriano that are beautiful skins. The tips are stained black walnut and the transfer area is red silk thread,  6 coats of polly. This is my first form fitted handle, black leather over cork, and it came out good I think. The bow pulls 35# at 26" and has a sweet release. The bending and getting the string to fall in the right place took quite a bit for me since it is my first R&D. All in all it came out way above my expectations. hope you all enjoy the pics as much as I have enjoyed building it. Also a thanks to all who inspire with their great work here on this forum.

Nice work on that bow David. Welcome back to bow building, doesn't look like you forgot anything during you time away.
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.

Cool little stick, knapper.

Great bow knapper, those skins match very well, and what a great bend!
