Finally getting around to it!
« on: May 16, 2016, 03:00:53 am »
This bow is one of my oldest bows. It's a rawhide backed Osage bow. I started this bow 3 years ago. It was my first character Osage bow. I popped a small splinter during tillering and with the help of several of you guy's it was saved and has become one of my favorite shooters. And that's what I have done, just shoot the heck out of it. I have packed it to every event I've been to. I've even taken it hunting some. It's hard to get a drop on a deer when you're flagging a big white tail at them.

The stave was an old fence post and a gift from a guy at work. The whitetail rawhide was a gift from PatB. The black snake skin was a gift from Osage outlaw. Thanks a bunch guy's!

Here is a link from quite some time ago when I was working on it. And a picture of the skins I put on tonight. I'll post more pics in the next few days as I get it finished FINALLY!

It'll be done just in time for Marshall!
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

Sometimes a rebuild can become your best and favorite bow.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

Thanks guy's,  the hope is to have her done by Marshall.

Pearl and Pat, I owe both of you a big thanks with this bow. You guys probably don't remember all the help you gave me with this bow but I do. Thanks again fellas!

I got the skins cleaned up this evening. It's starting to look pretty good. Going to let them dry for another day. It's raining and really damp. A few spots on the edge was still a little soft.

Nice work.  I hope you get it done in time for Marshall.  If not, bring it anyway so we can see it.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

Thanks John, I'm practicing for the big show!
I will have it with me Clint, done or not. Like I said, it's pretty much my favorite shooter.
